The Senate has urged the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, (FERMA) to wake up to its responsibility and be active as most of the Nigerians road’s are in bad condition.
The Senate Chairman Committee on FERMA, Senator Hussaini Babangadi Uba, representing Jigawa North West senatorial district, made this call during the screening exercise and confirmation of the board of FERMA on Tuesday in Abuja.
The Senate urged FERMA to be proactive in delivering its mandate, as the Senate will be demanding a lot from the board, “our interest is Nigeria and the interest of Nigerians.”
According to the Senate Chairman Committee on FERMA that this committee has no reason not to work, nor to perform. They have all the enablement, they have the requisite qualifications, they have the experiences, they have the diversity, and they also have the zeal and interest.
He further thank Mr. President for finding them suitable to nominate them for this office, adding that the expectation is about them doing the right thing, doing the work and delivering service to Nigerians.
“Our commitment and determination to keep them on their toes. We’ll make sure that the right thing is done, and oversee them as often as possible. And I said it here during the screening, that we’re going to be reporting them every day, 24 hours, seven days a week. We’re not going to relent on that.
“We’re going to work for the benefit of Nigeria, and the 10th assembly is very desirous of making sure that everybody does his job and will oversee them accordingly.”
