Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Ltd. has announced plans to challenge the ruling of the Patents and Designs Registry, Abuja, over the ownership of its label bottle design.
The company disclosed this in a public notice issued through its legal representatives and dated Sept. 4, 2026, concerning a dispute involving Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Ltd., Jigsimur SA (Pty) Ltd. and Cleansimur International Ltd.
Jigsimur Plus said the decision of the Patents and Designs Registry was an administrative ruling and should not be interpreted as a final determination of the rights of the parties by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The company maintained that the ruling was reached in error, alleging that the Registry failed to properly appreciate and consider the relevant facts, documents, rights and circumstances surrounding the dispute.
“Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited strongly maintains that the decision was reached in error and without proper appreciation and consideration of the relevant facts, documents, rights and circumstances,” the company said.
It said it had instructed its legal counsel to challenge the decision before the Federal High Court and seek appropriate judicial remedies.
According to the company, it was exercising its lawful right within the prescribed period to challenge the ruling and pursue an appeal.
Jigsimur Plus further said it would seek appropriate orders to preserve the position of the parties pending the determination of the appeal.
The company cautioned members of the public, customers, distributors and business partners against treating the administrative ruling as a final and enforceable resolution of the dispute.
It noted that the period prescribed by the ruling had not expired and urged stakeholders to disregard reports suggesting that the matter had been conclusively resolved.
“Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited remains committed to vigorously protecting and enforcing its lawful rights and interests,” it said.
The company expressed confidence that the Federal High Court would properly consider the relevant facts, evidence and legal issues when the matter comes before it.
It also urged the media and members of the public to exercise restraint and avoid disseminating reports suggesting that the adispute had been finally and conclusively determined.
