African Independent Television (AIT) has pledged comprehensive media support, including live broadcast coverage, for the maiden edition of the Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, aimed at promoting national security awareness and recognizing the contributions of women in Nigeria’s security sector.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, who also chairs the WINSEC Central Planning Committee, to the management of Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, in Abuja.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIT, Marcel Anyanyechi, commended NAWOJ for initiating the summit, describing it as a timely platform to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of women contributing to Nigeria’s security architecture.
He noted that the WINSEC Summit and Awards would inspire patriotism and excellence among security personnel and stakeholders, while emphasizing the need for collaboration between the media, security agencies, government, and citizens in tackling national security challenges.
“As a media organization, we will work with you, partner with you and collaborate to ensure the success of this initiative. Those making sacrifices for national peace and security deserve recognition,” Anyanyechi said.
AIT outlined key areas of support, including live coverage of the awards ceremony, extensive news reporting, promotional broadcasts, scroll announcements to drive public awareness, and technical guidance to enhance the quality of event publicity materials.
The AIT boss further reaffirmed the station’s commitment to promoting responsible journalism, public enlightenment, and national security awareness through its platforms.
Earlier, NAWOJ Chairperson Aisha Ibrahim expressed appreciation to AIT for its support, describing WINSEC as a strategic initiative to deepen discussions on security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, and leadership.
She said the summit would also serve as a platform to honour individuals, particularly women, making outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s security and development.

The Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026, themed “Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Women in Securing the Nation,” is scheduled to hold on June 30, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.
The event is expected to convene stakeholders from the security, media, governance, and civil society sectors to address critical issues surrounding national security, leadership, and gender inclusion, while celebrating champions of peace and development in Nigeria.
