In a decisive show of political strength and party unity, Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam Madori has emerged unopposed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa North-East ahead of the 2027 general elections, reinforcing his growing influence within the ruling party and his constituency.
The lawmaker, who currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, clinched the ticket through a consensus arrangement ratified at the APC primary election held in Hadejia. His emergence followed the withdrawal of notable contenders, including Muhammad Babandede, Barrister Sani Garin Gabas, and Pharm. Ubali Hashim—signaling broad-based support across political blocs in the district.
Rising Political Profile
First elected into the Senate in 2023, Madori represents Jigawa North-East Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Within a short period, he has carved a niche as a legislator focused on security, governance, and party cohesion.
His role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs places him at the center of legislative oversight on policing, internal security reforms, and institutional accountability—areas critical to Nigeria’s stability.

The affirmation process, conducted by APC’s Primary Election Committee led by officials from Sokoto State, was witnessed by party leaders and stakeholders, including Muhammad Umar Dikkuma and Nasiru Jahun, the State Vice Chairman.
Madori attributed the smooth consensus process to the leadership of Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, whose political guidance he said was instrumental in achieving unity.
“I will continue to promote the interests of our people and strengthen our party as one political family,” Madori said, expressing gratitude to party executives, delegates, and supporters.
Looking Ahead to 2027
With the APC ticket secured, Madori is well-positioned for a potential second term in the Senate, contingent on victory in the 2027 general elections. His campaign is expected to build on his legislative track record, security advocacy, and grassroots connections.
He has also pledged to deepen collaboration with party leaders and constituents to deliver “quality legislation and good governance,” while working to heal internal divisions and strengthen party cohesion.
