Lagos, Nigeria — The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, Olohundare Jimoh, has charged newly promoted senior police officers to uphold integrity, professionalism and maintain zero tolerance for corruption in the discharge of their duties.
Jimoh gave the charge on Thursday during the decoration ceremony of promoted officers at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, stressing that their elevation comes with greater responsibility amid rising security challenges and public expectations.
The AIG said the beneficiaries included four Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), five Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and one Superintendent of Police (SP), noting that the promotions reflected years of dedicated service, resilience and professionalism, as well as the confidence of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Force Management.
He listed the promoted officers as DCP Deborah Omoruan, DCP Mary Ayim, DCP Jaiyeoba Idowu Joseph, DCP Lot Garba Lantoh, ACP Gafar Ajayi Adeyanju, ACP Ajoke Akande, ACP Olanrewaju Victor Kalejaiye, ACP Ellah Jeffrey, ACP Chukwu Thomas, and SP Okusi Abimbola.
Describing the promotions as a milestone, Jimoh emphasised that they were not merely rewards for past achievements but a call to higher standards of leadership, accountability and service.
“Your promotion is a testament to your professionalism, resilience and dedication. It affirms our resolve to sustain a promotion system that rewards merit, competence and performance,” he said.
He urged the officers to lead with courage, fairness and integrity, warning against corruption, abuse of office and misconduct, while also calling for commitment to safeguarding lives and property and strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Jimoh further stressed the need for intelligence-led policing, adoption of modern technology and continuous professional training, urging the officers to align their duties with international best practices while respecting the rights and dignity of citizens.
“We must continue to build a modern, intelligent and technology-driven police force, but we must never lose sight of why we exist — to serve and protect the people,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, DCP Deborah Omoruan pledged renewed commitment, professionalism and loyalty to the Force.
She described the promotion as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility, noting that not all deserving officers had the opportunity to witness such a milestone due to retirement, ill health or death.

Omoruan expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission and the Police leadership for the recognition, assuring that the promoted officers would justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, hard work and exemplary service.
She also thanked AIG Jimoh, senior colleagues, family members and the media for their support.
