The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has warned members of the public against a fake message inviting applications for an alleged Education Support Fund for MSc students.
The Commission described the circulating information, including the stated requirements and purported submission location at the NEDC office in Polo, Maiduguri, as false and unauthorised.
In a statement issued on September 4, 2026 and signed by the Management of NEDC, the Commission said it is not currently receiving applications for any MSc Education Support Fund as being claimed in the circulating message.
NEDC urged prospective applicants to disregard the information completely and refrain from submitting sensitive personal documents, including NIN slips, admission letters, identity cards and indigene certificates, to individuals or locations claiming to represent the Commission.

The Commission cautioned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes and the unauthorised use of its name and identity.
It advised members of the public seeking information on NEDC programmes, interventions and opportunities to rely only on the Commission’s official communication channels and verified announcements.
