DUNUKOFIA, ANAMBRA — Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Dr. Victor Umeh, has distributed agricultural inputs to farmers in Dunukofia Local Government Area, urging increased food production to tackle rising economic hardship and insecurity.
The empowerment programme, held at Immanuel Anglican Church, Ukwulu, drew a large gathering of stakeholders, leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and residents who turned out in jubilation to receive the senator.
Umeh, who is currently on a tour of local government areas in Anambra Central as part of his 2026 Agricultural Input Empowerment Programme, said the initiative is aimed at supporting farmers and enhancing productivity across the district. He reassured constituents of his commitment to equitable distribution of resources and development projects.
The lawmaker highlighted several of his interventions in Dunukofia, including infrastructure projects, employment opportunities for indigenes, and scholarships awarded to 27 beneficiaries from the area under the Anambra Central Scholarship Programme, part of a wider pool of 332 students.
Speaking on the importance of agriculture, Umeh stressed that increased participation in farming would help curb hunger and reduce crime, which he linked to worsening economic conditions. He charged beneficiaries to make effective use of the distributed inputs to scale up production and improve livelihoods.
The senator also called for continued political support for the NDC and its candidates, urging constituents to back the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi, whom he described as a visionary leader capable of repositioning the country.
Umeh was accompanied by his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh; the NDC candidate for Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency, Hon. Chukwudi Okeke; and other party officials, including State Chairman, Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, and Secretary of the Senator Victor Umeh Campaign Organisation, Barr. Ekemezie Obidigwe.

Earlier, stakeholders led by the NDC Chairman in Dunukofia, Chief Emeka Makachi, welcomed the senator and commended his continued engagement with the people.
Responding, residents expressed appreciation for the intervention and pledged sustained support for Umeh and the NDC, offering prayers for his success and protection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
