Neighbour Pushes 65-Year-Old Woman to Death During Fight in Ogun
A tragic altercation in Ipokia, Ogun State, has led to the death of a 65-year-old woman, Morenike Oladega, allegedly caused by her neighbor, Abigel Bankole.
The incident occurred on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at approximately 4:20 PM in Ipokia Local Government Area.
According to reports, a fight broke out between the two women, during which Bankole allegedly pushed Oladega, causing her to hit her head against a wall. She collapsed and was later confirmed dead.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital. Odutola revealed that the police became involved when Ibrahim Oladega, the son of the deceased, reported the matter to authorities.
According to the statement, detectives were dispatched to the scene after receiving the report. They found the victim lying unconscious on her back.
A photograph of the scene was taken before the body was transported to the General Hospital in Ipokia, where a medical doctor confirmed her death.
The body was later moved to the mortuary at the General Hospital in Ilaro for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The statement further revealed that the suspect, Abigel Bankole, fled the scene immediately after the incident. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend her, while preliminary investigations continue.
According to Police Statement, SP Odutola’s statement partly read: “On November 21, 2024, at about 6:20 PM, Ibrahim Oladega, a resident of Isunba Street, Ipokia, reported an incident at the police station. He stated that earlier that day, around 4:20 PM, his mother, 65-year-old Oladega Morenike, had an argument with a neighbor, Abigel Bankole.
The confrontation escalated into a fight during which the deceased was pushed, causing her to hit her head against a wall and collapse.
