Senator Victor Umeh has appealed to the people of the South-East to close ranks and rally behind former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that political division could undermine the region’s quest for greater political relevance.
Umeh made the appeal while addressing supporters, stressing the need for collective political action and sustained support for Obi as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.
The senator urged Ndigbo to remain steadfast and resist attempts to weaken their political strength through internal disagreements, insisting that unity and a common political direction were essential to achieving their aspirations.
He maintained that the South-East must demonstrate political commitment and determination rather than allow differences to undermine a candidate widely supported by people in the region.
Umeh also called on supporters not to be discouraged by political challenges and opposition, urging them to remain focused on the broader objective of securing meaningful political representation for the South-East at the national level.
