The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, on Wednesday led a coordinated rescue operation to the site of a train derailment along the Abuja–Kaduna rail line near the Idda sub-station.
The incident, which occurred shortly after 11 a.m., left seven passengers injured. They were treated at the scene before being transported to a medical facility for further care. No fatalities were recorded.

The multi-agency response was spearheaded by NEMA with critical support from the Nigerian military, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Their swift intervention ensured the smooth evacuation of passengers and restoration of order at the scene.
Officials from the Ministry of Transportation, including the acting Permanent Secretary, were present to oversee investigations into the cause of the accident. Authorities assured that further updates would be provided as inquiries progress.
