The build-up for the 2027 general elections has begun, with aspirants declaring interest to contest for various positions . For Lawal Musa Daura, the mission is clear: he is seeking to contest for Katsina State governor . A security expert with over three decades of experience, Daura says he is driven by the need to protect his people from the gruesome killings and daily loss of lives plaguing Katsina State.
The former Director-General of the Department of State Services, who hails from Daura in Katsina State, hopes to deploy his vast experience to rescue the state from insecurity and economic stagnation. His vision is to deliver and better the future of Katsina people.
Given his background and track record, Daura believes he can take the state to the next level. The aspirant plans to roll out policies across the length and breadth of Katsina that will improve living standards, having witnessed years of impoverishment without solutions.
The question for Katsina people is: how far can he go to earn their votes? That answer rests solely with the electorate.
As a former security chief, Daura understands how to reposition the state to an industrial hub. He argues that his message will differ from what the people have heard over the years because he knows “where the shoe pinches” and intends to address it directly.
Political analysts have suggested that Lawal Musa Daura is the candidate best positioned to salvage the state from corruption, banditry, kidnapping, and thuggery come 2027.
Confident in his credentials, Daura presents himself as the man to beat. With administrative competence spanning over 30 years, he pledges to transform Katsina into an economically viable state. He insists that, with his capacity and capabilities, the people will not regret electing him as governor come 2027.
His Supporters describe him as a long-standing “made material” for governor, a leader who genuinely loves the people with the vision to develop the state. Amid current insecurity, hunger, and poverty, they believe he will confront these challenges head-on.
Since Daura declared his intention to contest, calls for good governance have intensified, with many seeing him as the answer to the state’s problems if elected.
Political observers note that Daura’s career has been open to talent, and they believe he can deliver Katsina from bandits and criminals who have disturbed the state for years.
“I am confident that my principal has the ability to take the state to the next level through physical development that will create employment opportunities and expand markets,” said a political associate who under anonymity.
According to him, Daura has stated rhetorically that he will not allow Katsina’s fortunes to waste away. He noted that farmers have lost millions of naira worth of goods yearly due to insecurity and banditry.
The governorship hopeful describes himself as a “political mechanic” more interested in rewriting the state’s history than in making empty statements. As a security expert with managerial skills, he promises fresh ideas and projects with direct impact to citizens’ lives. He also pledges to promote peace, unity, and adequate security if elected.
On his mission and vision for Katsina, Daura said his objective is to free the people from insecurity and poverty, create job opportunities, and provide quality education to young, energetic youths who can compete favorably with their counterparts abroad.
He acknowledged that power belongs to God and He gives it to whom He wills. Still, he is strongly persuaded that if elected governor, he will not disappoint the people and will seek their input in governance.
Daura noted that his security background makes him a man of many parts: some view him through his professional lens, others see his humility, and many more recognize his contributions to the socio-economic lives of the people.
