Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims during a coordinated offensive in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out by troops of Sector 9 deployed in Namu Town in the early hours of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers within the forest. The raid, which commenced at about 3:00 a.m., underscores the military’s sustained efforts to restore peace and enhance security across the Joint Operations Area.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, troops encountered resistance during the operation as the suspected kidnappers opened sporadic fire while attempting to flee. Amid the exchange, three victims reportedly escaped from captivity.
The troops subsequently intensified their operation, conducting a thorough sweep of the forest, which led to the rescue of five additional abducted persons, bringing the total number of rescued victims to eight.
All rescued individuals are reported to be in stable condition, while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.
The successful operation has drawn commendation from members of the local community, who have pledged continued cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid in the fight against criminal elements.
