The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Thursday ruled in favour of David Mark in the protracted leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), delivering a significant but non-final judgment in the dispute.
In its decision, the apex court upheld Mark’s position in the party’s leadership tussle, effectively affirming his claims in the ongoing legal battle over control of the ADC. However, the court clarified that the ruling does not conclusively resolve the matter.
The justices directed the Federal High Court to resume and conclude proceedings in the substantive suit, which had been stalled pending the outcome of appeals. This means the case will return to the trial court for a full hearing on its merits.
