President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON extends his warm regards to the distinguished elder statesman and former governor of Ogun state, Chief Segun Osoba, on the auspicious occasion of his 85th birthday.
In a communique released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President lauded Chief Osoba as a seasoned journalist, notably the first Nigerian recipient of the prestigious Nieman Fellowship for Journalism.
Akpabio remarked, “I am acquainted with Chief Segun Osoba as a paragon of excellence and unimpeachable integrity. His tenure in public office was marked by flawless service, and in his current capacity as a statesman, he remains a veritable wellspring of sagacity, particularly for emerging leaders.”
He acknowledged Osoba as a revered political figure and a staunch advocate for democracy, having governed Ogun state in the years 1992-1993 and 1999-2003, playing a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for the democratic era that Nigerians now enjoy.
The Senate President highlighted Osoba’s tenure as governor, praising his exceptional leadership characterized by ambitious, sustainable, and impeccable initiatives that have withstood the test of time.
“As you commemorate your 85th year today, I, along with my family, constituents, and the entire National Assembly, wish you robust health, both physically and mentally, and an enduring life.”
