The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has formally requested permission from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to visit former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who is in the commission’s custody.
The group made the request in a letter submitted to the ICPC on Tuesday by the Chairman of its Abuja branch, seeking access to El-Rufai as part of its civil liberties activities.
MURIC proposed a three-man delegation comprising its Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola; the Chairman of its Abuja branch, Ustadh Yunus Salahudeen; and the branch’s Assistant Secretary, Shehu Ahmad Lemu.
According to the group, El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since Feb. 16, 2026, and had spent approximately six months and two days in custody as of Aug. 18, when the request was submitted.
MURIC said the proposed visit was intended to enable its representatives to engage with the former governor and ascertain his welfare while in custody.
