The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has strengthened its waste evacuation capacity with the deployment of 10 new compactor trucks across Lagos State, in a move aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, announced the development during the official deployment of the vehicles, commending the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) for donating the trucks.
He described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to enhancing public service delivery through strategic inter-agency collaboration.
According to Gbadegesin, the addition of the new compactors will significantly boost LAWMA’s operational fleet, enabling more efficient waste collection across critical areas of the state.
“This generous donation reinforces our capacity to deliver more efficient and reliable waste management services to Lagosians. As our population continues to grow, investments in critical operational assets such as these are essential to improving service delivery and sustaining a cleaner, healthier and more liveable city,” he said.
He emphasised that sustainable waste management requires continuous investment in modern equipment, innovation, and strong partnerships, noting that environmental sustainability remains a shared responsibility among stakeholders.
Gbadegesin further praised the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority for its timely intervention, adding that such collaborations are vital to addressing environmental challenges.
The LAWMA boss disclosed that the newly acquired trucks had been strategically deployed to key operational corridors to complement the existing fleet and enhance waste collection efficiency statewide.
He assured residents that the agency would continue to optimise resources, intensify enforcement, and deepen community engagement to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
