The Kano Youth Coalition (KYC) has attributed the conflagration at the palace of former Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II to a sinister premonition.
In a statement endorsed by its President, Comrade Abdullahi Nuhu, the group posited that the incident is a glaring indication that the Almighty is displeased with the Emir and his associates.
Nuhu asserted that Sanusi’s reinstatement has been rebuffed by the judiciary, his subjects, and the Divine.
“The prolonged occupancy of the palace by Emir Sanusi is unlawful and a blatant disregard for legal principles,” the statement emphasized.
“Despite a court ruling halting the dissolution of the Kano Emirates, the state administration has persistently championed his reinstatement. This constitutes a flagrant breach of the law and a challenge to justice.
“We ascribe the inferno to the ire of the Almighty towards Emir Sanusi’s obstinacy and defiance.”
Citing Surah An-Nisa Ayat 14, Nuhu quoted: “And whoever defies Allah and His Messenger and exceeds His bounds – He shall cast him into the Fire to abide therein forever, and he shall have a humiliating punishment.”
The coalition urged Sanusi to promptly vacate the palace to avert further ominous occurrences, warning that his tenure poses a threat to the tranquility and stability of Kano.
”We also implore the state authorities to desist from endorsing this illegitimacy and uphold the rule of law. They must expeditiously address this issue and ensure that justice prevails,” Nuhu stressed.
“We shall not remain passive while the law is flouted and the people of Kano are deprived of justice. We demand the immediate abdication of Emir Sanusi from the throne.”
