The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs Zubaida Umar, has called on Nigerians to prioritise compassion and selflessness as they celebrate Eid-il-Kabir, emphasising the need to support vulnerable members of society.
She noted that the core values of Eid-il-Kabir align closely with NEMA’s mandate of saving lives, reducing human suffering, and providing support to communities during emergencies and disasters.
“As we celebrate, let us carry forward the spirit of sacrifice and compassion by looking out for the vulnerable and strengthening one another,” she said.
The NEMA boss further prayed for national peace, safety, and prosperity, expressing hope that the occasion would inspire renewed commitment to humanitarian values among citizens.

“May Allah accept our sacrifices and continue to bless our nation with peace, safety, and prosperity,” she added.
Eid-il-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant religious celebrations in Islam, marked by acts of charity, prayers, and communal solidarity.
