The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Nigerian-born Rosaline on her emergence as the new Mayor of Islington in the United Kingdom, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Nigeria and a testament to excellence, dedication, and impactful community service.
In a statement on Wednesday, Dabiri-Erewa commended Rosaline’s rise in public service, noting that her journey reflects the growing influence and contributions of Nigerians excelling in leadership positions across the globe.
Rosaline, who was first elected as Councillor representing St. Peter’s and Canalside Ward of the Islington Council in May 2022, had served on several key committees, including the Homes and Communities Scrutiny Committee and the Licensing Committee. She also held the position of Deputy Mayor prior to her elevation to the office of Mayor.
The NiDCOM boss highlighted Rosaline’s consistent commitment to community development, advocacy, and public service, describing her as a worthy ambassador of Nigeria in the diaspora.
Before venturing into politics, Rosaline built a career in voluntary and professional service, working with organisations such as the Islington Citizens Advice Bureau, where she currently serves part-time as an adviser. She also worked in the Marketing Department of the London Symphony Orchestra as a Customer Service and Office Coordinator and was actively involved in the orchestra’s Community Choir for over two decades.
Her background also includes experience in broadcasting, having previously worked with Radio Nigeria before relocating to the United Kingdom. In May 2022, she was appointed to the Board of Trustees of St Luke’s Centre.

Beyond her professional engagements, Rosaline is known for her passion for singing, fashion designing, clothing production, and gardening.
Dabiri-Erewa expressed confidence that Rosaline would bring her wealth of experience, compassion, and leadership qualities to bear in her new role. She also encouraged Nigerians in the diaspora to continue distinguishing themselves positively in their various fields.
Rosaline is scheduled to be officially installed as Mayor of Islington on May 27.
