The President of the Congress of African Journalists (CAJ), Chris Isiguzo, has called on Muslim journalists across Africa to embrace Eid El-Fitr as a time for reflection, renewal, and celebration.
In a heartfelt message, Isiguzo extended warm greetings to Muslim journalists, acknowledging their dedication as they join the global Muslim Ummah in marking the occasion.
He highlighted the significance of Eid El-Fitr, emphasizing that it is more than just the conclusion of Ramadan. “Eid El-Fitr is not only the culmination of a month of fasting and prayer but also a celebration of the strength, discipline, and unwavering faith demonstrated by Muslims throughout this sacred period,” he stated.
Commending the resilience of Muslim journalists, Isiguzo noted, “Your commitment to your religious duties, despite the demands of our modern world, is truly inspiring.”
As a former National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Isiguzo underscored the vital role journalists play in shaping public discourse, amplifying marginalized voices, and upholding the truth. “Journalists are at the forefront of shaping narratives and providing a platform for the voiceless. Your contributions during both challenging and joyous times are invaluable,” he added.
Encouraging Muslim journalists to use this period for introspection, he urged them to uphold values of humanity, compassion, and unity in their work. “The stories we tell and the truths we uncover are part of our service to society and our broader responsibility to humanity,” he remarked.

Isiguzo also offered prayers for peace and unity across Africa, urging journalists to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a brighter and more harmonious future. “May this Eid inspire you to continue striving for a continent where peace, unity, and mutual understanding thrive,” he said.
He concluded his message with well-wishes to all Muslims, particularly journalists, across Africa. “May Allah accept your prayers, reward your sacrifices, and grant you health, happiness, and success in all your endeavors.”
