ABUJA — The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged Nigerians to embrace hope, unity, and humanity as Christians across the country mark the Easter celebration.
In his Easter message, Kalu described the season as a powerful reminder of sacrifice, renewal, and the triumph of hope over despair. He called on citizens to reflect on the enduring values symbolised by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Deputy Speaker encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the nation and for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that the country would overcome its socio-economic challenges.
Kalu stressed the urgent need for unity, urging citizens to rise above ethnic, religious, and political differences in pursuit of peace and sustainable development.
“Easter speaks to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless power of hope. It calls on us to love one another, to stand united, and to uphold our shared humanity, especially in difficult times,” he said.
He also tasked leaders at all levels to prioritise inclusive and people-oriented policies, noting that true leadership must be rooted in compassion and service.
The lawmaker further called on Nigerians to show kindness to the less privileged and vulnerable, emphasising that collective acts of compassion could help build a more cohesive society.
