Benue Robbery’s: Senate Urge Security Agency’s To Probe Arms Killing in Otukpo

The Nigeria Senate has urged the security agencies to investigate the tragic bank robbery and invasion of four banks and killing of innocent citizens in Otukpo area of Benue State.

This follows the motion moved by Senate Abba Moro representing Benue South senatorial district during the plenary on Tuesday in Abuja

The upper chamber also urged security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the robbery attack are arrested and prosecuted.

This followed the suspected thieves armed with explosives and sophisticated weapons invaded commercial banks and invasion of police command in Otukpo one of local government area in Benue State on Friday.

Police in the state confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, John Adikwu, and three other police officers lost their lives when the armed robbers engaged them in a gun battle.

Senate Moro, while press briefing the newsmen said it’s worrisome, calling Nigeria to be watchful. “I have never heard of such an attack.”

He added it’s a new development and very worrisome tragedy, ” that I thought Nigerians know through the Senate that this is what had taken place.”

“For the security agencies to find ways in containing the situation in Otukpo and other places in the future.”
