Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained offensive operations against terrorists in Katsina State, neutralising a key lieutenant of notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani and recovering weapons, ammunition and motorcycles.
The troops of Sector 2 carried out clearance operations on Saturday, August 29, in identified terrorist enclaves in Matazu Local Government Area of the state, where they encountered stiff resistance from armed terrorists.
The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee the area.
During the exploitation of the area, the troops confirmed the neutralisation of a terrorist identified as Smally, described as a lieutenant to Kachalla Muhammadu Filani.
The operation also led to the recovery of three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists.

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation is part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and dismantle their operational capabilities across the Joint Operations Area.
He said the troops remained resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists, denying them freedom of action and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and security across affected communities.
