The Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded significant operational gains, including the rescue of abductees, successful repulsion of an ISWAP attack on a military base, and the disruption of terrorist logistics networks across Borno and Adamawa states.
In a statement issued on 8 July 2026, the military disclosed that troops sustained momentum through coordinated search and rescue missions, intelligence-driven operations, and joint security efforts aimed at crippling terrorist activities in the region.
On 7 July, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion rescued two abductees during a search and rescue operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation also led to the recovery of N1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities, along with food items and logistics believed to support terrorist operations. The rescued victims have been evacuated to a secure facility where they are receiving medical care and psychosocial support.
In a separate development, troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani in Ngala Local Government Area successfully repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP fighters. The insurgents briefly breached part of the defensive perimeter during the intense firefight, but troops swiftly regrouped and launched a counter-offensive, forcing the attackers to retreat with heavy casualties.
The military, however, confirmed that one soldier was killed in action, while two gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged. Reinforcements have since been deployed, and the area remains under firm control, with ongoing clearance and stabilization operations.
Further successes were recorded in Adamawa State, where troops of the 232 Battalion arrested a suspected criminal in Gombi Local Government Area. Weapons recovered from the suspect include an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 28 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Similarly, troops of the 149 Battalion apprehended two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State. Recovered items include cash, a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, construction materials, and household goods believed to be intended for terrorist groups.
In continued offensive operations, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, conducted clearance operations around Wulgo, recovering a sack of illicit drugs abandoned by fleeing insurgents.
The military also reported that six suspected ISWAP members, along with their families, surrendered to troops in Gwoza Local Government Area. Preliminary investigations indicate they fled from terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains. Items recovered include over N1.5 million and mobile phones.
Additionally, troops intercepted and arrested multiple suspected logistics suppliers across different locations, including Molai checkpoint in Borno State and Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, recovering medical supplies and other materials believed to support insurgents.

Two Terrorist Commanders Surrender in North-East
The military said the operations highlight the effectiveness of sustained offensives, credible intelligence, and collaboration with local security groups in dismantling terrorist networks and restricting their movement.
Operation HADIN KAI reassured the public of its commitment to ongoing rescue efforts and warned individuals against providing any form of support to terrorist groups, stressing that offenders would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
