ABUJA — The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has called for urgent and decisive action following the gruesome killing of residents in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a strongly worded statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Abbas described the attack by suspected terrorists as heinous and unacceptable, warning that Nigeria cannot afford to leave its citizens at the mercy of criminals and non-state actors.
Scores of people were reportedly killed, many others injured, and properties destroyed in the attack, further deepening concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the region.
The Speaker stressed that the tragic incident should serve as a moment of sober reflection for all stakeholders, urging a united and coordinated response to rising insecurity across the country.
He emphasised that the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, calling for stronger collaboration between federal and sub-national authorities, as well as enhanced inter-agency cooperation among security forces.

Abbas also underscored the need for improved synergy between government institutions and local communities to effectively tackle criminality and restore public confidence.
While condoling with families of the victims, the Speaker extended his sympathies to the people of Angwan Rukuba and the Plateau State Government, praying for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives.
