The Federal Government has extended its post-flood recovery intervention to 653 households in Kebbi State, distributing livelihood empowerment equipment and food assistance to help families rebuild their livelihoods following the devastating 2025 floods.
The intervention, implemented by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is part of the Presidential Post-Flood Intervention Programme approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, disclosed this at the flag-off ceremony held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. She said the programme was designed to complement previous humanitarian interventions, accelerate the recovery of affected households and strengthen their resilience against future disasters.
Umar, who was represented by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Alhaji Abbani Imam Garki, expressed the Federal Government’s sympathy and solidarity with Nigerians who suffered losses during the 2025 floods.
She explained that the intervention would be extended across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, demonstrating the President’s commitment to disaster risk reduction, humanitarian assistance and the protection of vulnerable communities.
According to her, NEMA personnel from its headquarters and operations offices are working with State Emergency Management Agencies, relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, local government authorities and security agencies to ensure that the distribution process is transparent, equitable and accountable.
She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the assistance to rebuild their livelihoods and improve their economic well-being.
In his remarks, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Aliyu Umar, appreciated President Tinubu and NEMA for their continued support to disaster-affected and vulnerable communities in the state.
Similarly, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, represented by the Ubandoman Gwandu, Alhaji Sadiq Ibrahim-Saad, commended the Federal Government and NEMA for the intervention.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilise the distributed items effectively to restore their economic activities and improve their livelihoods.
