ABUJA, Friday — Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has signalled his intention to contest the Ogun State governorship in 2027, declaring that he will formally announce his ambition in the near future.
Adeola made the disclosure on the sidelines of the 8th National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday in Abuja, where he also expressed confidence in the party’s readiness to consolidate its strength ahead of the next general elections.
He commended the organisers of the convention for delivering what he described as a peaceful, well-coordinated, and widely attended event, noting that the atmosphere reflected unity and enthusiasm among party faithful.
According to him, the convention is expected to produce a new National Executive Committee capable of repositioning the APC for electoral success in 2027, adding that expectations remain high among stakeholders.
“The expectation is that whatever process is adopted will end well, and that the new leadership will be ready to take the party to the next level,” Adeola stated.
The senator explained that the convention marks the final phase of a series of internal party processes, including ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, culminating in the emergence of a new national leadership.
He further noted that the next step would be the inauguration of the National Working Committee (NWC), which will outline modalities for the party’s primaries, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act, including consensus or direct primaries.
Adeola assured that party members in Ogun State are prepared to align with any guidelines issued by the NWC, reiterating his commitment to the party’s processes as he positions himself for the 2027 governorship race.
