Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully foiled multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists across key locations in Borno State, forcing the insurgents into a disorderly retreat.
The attempted attacks, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 10, 2026, targeted strategic entry points into Maiduguri metropolis, including Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis. According to military sources, the insurgents made the coordinated moves between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
However, troops, aided by effective early warning systems, swiftly detected the advancing terrorists and engaged them with precise and overwhelming firepower from multiple directions, successfully repelling all attempts to infiltrate the city.
In related operations, troops also thwarted additional infiltration attempts at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai axis. During pursuit operations in Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). No casualties were recorded, and the situation remains under control.
Military authorities said the terrorists, overwhelmed by the troops’ rapid tactical response, were forced to abandon their mission and flee in disarray across all fronts.
Troops are currently conducting clearance and exploitation operations to track down fleeing insurgents, consolidate gains, and prevent further threats to surrounding communities.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations to deny terrorists freedom of movement and ensure the protection of lives and property across the North East.
