Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued 22 kidnapped victims in coordinated operations across Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
The operations, carried out on June 18, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating terrorist activity along the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road at Kura Mota Village. Armed assailants had reportedly blocked the road, attacked two civilian vehicles, and abducted several passengers. One civilian was killed during the attack.
In a swift response, troops mobilised to the scene and launched a coordinated pursuit operation, supported by aerial surveillance. The sustained pressure forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee, leading to the rescue of 17 passengers. The victims were subsequently handed over to relevant authorities.
In a related incident the same day, troops responded to a distress call from Chohi Village in Isa Local Government Area, where terrorists attempted to abduct farmers working on their farmlands. Security forces rapidly deployed and pursued the attackers along their withdrawal route, successfully rescuing five farmers who were later reunited with their families.

Following the operations, troops conducted confidence-building patrols in surrounding communities, including Gidan Rana and Gidan Sale villages, to reassure residents and maintain security dominance in the area.
The successful missions underscore the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguarding lives and property, denying terrorists freedom of action, and ensuring a secure environment for citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear.
