President Tinubu has unveiled three significant gas plants, including the expanded AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline, during a ceremony on Wednesday.
President Bola Tinubu provided assurance to energy sector investors that his administration is committed to improving the business environment and facilitating investments. President Tinubu made these remarks during the virtual inauguration of the projects at the State House.
He emphasized that his administration is intensifying its efforts to oversee other crucial projects and initiatives that will expedite the realization of gas-driven prosperity in the country.
The President highlighted that these gas plants align with the Decade of Gas Initiative and the government’s goal to maximize value from the nation’s abundant gas resources while reducing gas flaring and promoting industrialization.
“This occasion holds great significance for our nation as it underscores the administration’s dedicated endeavors to fast-track the development of vital gas infrastructure aimed at significantly boosting energy supply to promote industrial expansion and generate employment opportunities.
“It is gratifying that upon full operationalization, a combined total of approximately 500MMscf of gas will be provided to the domestic market from these two gas processing plants, representing over 25% growth in gas supply.
“In essence, this translates to more gas supplied to the power sector, gas-dependent industries, and other pivotal sectors of the economy. I, therefore, applaud the strategic foresight of NNPC Limited and its partners, Sterling Oil Exploration &Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), and Seplat Energy Plc, for these commendable and value-enhancing projects,”President Tinubu expressed.
The President reiterated his administration’s determination to leverage the country’s extensive gas capacity to drive economic progress. “In addition to the presidential CNG initiative aimed at transitioning Nigerians from petrol and diesel to gas as vehicular fuel, significant headway has been made in promoting gas development through Presidential Directives.
“The theme of this inauguration – ‘From Gas to Prosperity; Renewed Hope’, should serve as a rallying cry for all stakeholders in the gas sector and prospective investors to intensify efforts in accelerating investment and project development in the gas industry on a mutually beneficial basis.
“I once again commend the collaborative efforts of NNPC Ltd, SEEPCO, and Seplat Energy in this business partnership initiative, and extend congratulations to all involved in the successful execution of the three projects,”President Tinubu declared.
President Tinubu also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the expansion of domestic gas utilization, enhancing national power generation capacity, revitalizing industries, and creating numerous employment opportunities to foster economic growth.
“Today, I am honored to inaugurate the expansion of the AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline Projects, in line with my administration’s pledge to provide energy for Nigerians and harness our vast natural gas resources to transform Nigeria,”the President concluded.
