The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has unveiled plans for its 2026 Annual Transport Summit, with a strong focus on how transportation logistics can drive Nigeria’s economic expansion.
In a statement released on Monday, TCAN announced that the summit, scheduled for September 2026 in Lagos, will be held under the theme: “Unlocking Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics.” The event is expected to convene major stakeholders across Nigeria’s transportation value chain.
According to the association, participants will include operators in aviation, maritime, rail, road transport and logistics services, as well as policymakers, regulators, captains of industry, financial institutions and development partners.
TCAN said the 2026 conference comes amid ongoing reforms and infrastructure investments across the sector, noting that it will critically examine how efficient transportation logistics can serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth, trade facilitation, job creation and regional integration.
Chairman of TCAN, Tola Adenubi, described transportation logistics as the backbone of economic development, stressing that the efficiency of the system determines the competitiveness of the nation’s economy.
“From cargo handling at airports and seaports to inland freight movement and last-mile delivery systems, the efficiency of Nigeria’s logistics ecosystem plays a decisive role in determining the competitiveness of the nation’s economy,” Adenubi said.
He added that the summit would explore innovative strategies, digital transformation, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships and regulatory frameworks necessary to optimise the sector.
Chairman of the 2026 Conference Committee, Suleiman Idris, said the summit would feature high-level panel discussions, keynote presentations and interactive sessions.
He explained that discussions would assess the current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture and identify bottlenecks hindering seamless cargo and passenger movement.
Idris further noted that stakeholders would examine the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion and highlight investment opportunities within the logistics and supply chain ecosystem.
He added that experts would also provide policy recommendations aimed at enhancing efficiency and improving Nigeria’s global competitiveness.

As part of the event, TCAN will recognise outstanding government agencies and operators who have significantly contributed to the development of the transportation sector by presenting them with the Champions of Transport Industry Development (COTID) certificates.
Over the years, the TCAN Annual Transport Summit has evolved into a credible platform for constructive dialogue between government agencies and logistics operators, shaping policy conversations and promoting transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s transportation industry.
