The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated the Government and people of Republic of Senegal on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, commending the country’s enduring commitment to democratic governance and regional stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria described Senegal’s independence as a historic milestone that reflects the triumph of self-determination and sustained national development.
The government noted that Senegal has, over the years, distinguished itself as a model of political maturity and stability within West Africa, earning recognition for its consistent democratic practices and constructive engagement on the continent.
Nigeria further acknowledged Senegal’s significant contributions to regional peace, economic cooperation, and democratic consolidation, particularly through its active participation in organisations such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union, and the United Nations.
Highlighting the strong bilateral relations between both nations, the Federal Government said cooperation in trade, culture, education, and security continues to strengthen ties and promote shared interests.
