The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep concern over the escalating hostilities between Houthi forces in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, condemning a recent attack targeting civilians in the Najran region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday in Abuja, Nigeria described the attack by the Houthi militia as “reprehensible,” noting that it resulted in injuries to several civilians, including women and children.
The government said the incident represents a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” and undermines the fundamental principles guiding the protection of civilians during armed conflict.
Nigeria reaffirmed its firm rejection of the growing violence in the region, stressing that deliberate attacks on civilian populations and infrastructure are unacceptable regardless of the perpetrators.
“The Federal Government calls on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint, respect international law, and prioritise the protection of civilians,” the statement read.

It further urged renewed and intensified diplomatic engagements aimed at achieving a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the conflict, while upholding the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of all states in the region.
Nigeria also pledged to continue monitoring developments closely and to collaborate with regional and international partners in efforts to promote peace, security, and stability across the Gulf and the broader Middle East.
