ABUJA, Nigeria — The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated two Nigerian academics, Dr. Muhammad Abubakar Dalhat and Prof. Moruf Olalekan Yusuf, on their elevation to the rank of Professor in Saudi Arabia.
Dalhat was promoted to Professor at the College of Engineering, Transportation and Traffic Engineering, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, while Yusuf was elevated to Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Hafr Al Batin.
In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa described the achievements as a proud moment for Nigerians in the diaspora and a reflection of the calibre of Nigerian academics making significant contributions to global scholarship.
Dalhat holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and has developed a distinguished research profile in pavement design, artificial intelligence-driven material optimisation and sustainable construction materials.
He has several patents in asphalt material innovation, numerous high-impact journal publications and has contributed to academic quality assurance and accreditation at his institution.
Yusuf, a First Class graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Ibadan, holds a Master’s degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and a PhD in Concrete Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
He is internationally recognised for his research in sustainable construction materials, alkali-activated binders and geopolymer concrete, with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 2,000 citations.
Yusuf is also the pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Eastern Province Chapter, Saudi Arabia.
Dabiri-Erewa commended the two academics for their dedication to teaching, research, mentorship and professional service, saying their accomplishments underscore the immense value Nigerians in the diaspora contribute to their host countries.

She said NiDCOM would continue to recognise and celebrate Nigerians excelling in various fields abroad, noting that their success stories help project a positive image of Nigeria globally.
The NiDCOM Chairman urged Dalhat and Yusuf to continue mentoring young Nigerians, particularly those pursuing academic and professional careers in Saudi Arabia, and contribute to their development and the advancement of the country.
