The Archbishop of the Diocese of Badagry, United African Methodist Church, Rev. Matthew Olajonlu, has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to demonstrate transparency, integrity, and sincerity in addressing the country’s growing insecurity.
Olajonlu made the call on Monday during a press briefing ahead of the official inauguration of the Diocese of Badagry, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 9, 2026.
He commended efforts by local communities in maintaining peace but cautioned authorities against politicising security challenges at the expense of citizens’ lives.
“All the insecurity happening in our country is a result of politics, but I believe that where God has destined us to reach, we will get there without political interference,” he said.
The cleric stressed the need for a people-centered approach to governance, urging leaders to prioritise the safety and well-being of Nigerians above political interests.
He also called on citizens, particularly members of the church, to promote unity, love, and moral values as essential tools for national development.
“We need to build a diocese and a country where love is stronger than division, where service is greater than status, and where faith is demonstrated through compassion, integrity, and righteous living,” he added.
Olajonlu expressed optimism about the growth of the Diocese, noting plans to strengthen its nine circuits and empower young people to take up leadership roles in the future.

He further appreciated members of the church who have contributed to the growth of the Diocese, as well as those who continue to work toward its vision.
The inauguration of the Diocese is expected to draw religious leaders, community stakeholders, and worshippers from across the region.
