A Nigerian author and father of three, Tochi Maduba Ejiofor, has accused Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd (SEEPCO) of failing to adequately address the aftermath of a CNG truck crash which he said nearly claimed the lives of his family.
Ejiofor said the August 1, 2026 incident occurred in Kogi State while he, his wife and their three children were returning to Abuja from Anambra State, where they had attended the burial of his father-in-law.
According to him, the family was waiting at an Army checkpoint when a CNG truck with registration number FZE-431IA, allegedly belonging to SEEPCO, rammed into their Honda Accord.
He said the impact pushed the vehicle into the bush, trapping the family inside the wreckage before strangers eventually rescued them.
Ejiofor said the crash left the family with significant financial and emotional burdens, including vehicle damage, medical expenses and the loss or destruction of personal belongings.
He alleged that he personally paid for the towing of the wrecked car, emergency treatment and other expenses, while members of the family continued to receive medical attention weeks after the accident.
The author also questioned the subsequent handling of the matter, alleging that the truck and its driver were released from Orakam Police Station while his damaged vehicle remained impounded.
He said his lawyer had been instructed to demand an explanation from the police over the circumstances surrounding the release.
Ejiofor further alleged that company representatives initially acknowledged responsibility for the crash but that his subsequent efforts to secure compensation had not produced a satisfactory resolution.
He appealed to the leadership of Sterling Global Nigeria Ltd to intervene and ensure that his family receives appropriate redress.
He demanded replacement of the destroyed vehicle, compensation for damaged or missing property and payment of expenses incurred following the accident.

Ejiofor said he would pursue the matter through lawful channels if his demands were not addressed, stressing that the incident had placed the lives of his family at serious risk.
“I am prepared to pursue justice through every lawful channel available to me, for as long as it takes, whatever the cost,” he said.
