The organisers of the Bigi Soundcity On Tour say the initiative is providing emerging campus talents with opportunities to develop their skills, gain industry exposure and build sustainable careers in Nigeria’s creative economy.
Biola Aransiola, Brand Manager, Bigi, a subsidiary of Rite Foods Ltd., disclosed this during a media update session on the ongoing Bigi X Fearless Soundcity tour in Lagos on Wednesday.
Aransiola said the nationwide initiative would visit 20 campuses through a series of digital submissions, campus auditions, regional competitions and a grand finale in Abuja.
She said the programme was designed to identify promising talents early and provide them with support that could help transform their creative abilities into sustainable careers.
According to her, each participating campus will produce five finalists from the auditions, with the top three winners receiving ₦500,000, ₦350,000 and ₦150,000 respectively, while the overall campus winner proceeds to the regional competition.
She said participants would also receive career support beyond the competition, stressing that the initiative was different from conventional sponsorships because it seeks to provide young creatives with opportunities beyond product consumption.
“We’re part of that journey from the beginning to the end,” she said.
Aransiola explained that contestants in the music competition are required to download the designated song, record their performances over its instrumental version and tag Soundcity when submitting their entries.
She said Soundcity’s talent spotters would review the entries before selecting participants for campus auditions.
The national winner, she added, would receive two songs, a music video, media promotion and mentorship on managing fame, while selected contestants could also benefit from guidance from industry judges.
The tour also features the Fearless Dance Challenge, which combines music and dance to enable students to explore their talents, build confidence and gain exposure.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tour has so far visited Pan-Atlantic University, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Yaba College of Technology, University of Lagos, University of Uyo, University of Calabar, Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan.

At the University of Lagos, about 25 emerging artistes performed alongside established music stars, including Qing Madi, Falz, Joeboy, Wande Coal and Mr P of P-Square.
The organisers said the initiative would continue to use campus communities as a launchpad for discovering and nurturing the next generation of Nigerian music and dance talents.
