ABUJA — The Ondo State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, has congratulated the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on the successful hosting of the 2026 National Diaspora Day celebrations.
In a statement issued on July 26, Akinlosotu praised Dabiri-Erewa’s leadership and commitment to strengthening ties between Nigerians at home and those in the diaspora, describing her efforts as instrumental in fostering national development.
He noted that the annual event continues to serve as a strategic platform for engaging Nigerians abroad and leveraging their expertise for the country’s growth. According to him, this year’s celebration, which focused on health, underscores the importance of diaspora contributions to critical sectors.
The commissioner particularly highlighted the Diaspora Health Impact Initiative (DHII), which mobilized medical professionals from the diaspora to carry out outreach programmes across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. He described the initiative as a practical demonstration of how diaspora engagement can positively impact communities.
“Akinlosotu said Dabiri-Erewa’s dedication and passion have consistently strengthened collaboration between the diaspora community and government at all levels,” the statement read.
He further commended her vision and ability to unite Nigerians globally toward a shared goal of national progress, adding that her leadership remains a source of inspiration.

Akinlosotu also expressed optimism that NiDCOM would continue to expand its initiatives to deepen diaspora participation in Nigeria’s development.
