Fidelity Bank Plc, a prominent financial institution, has generously offered maternity packages to pregnant women in Aiyetoro, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State.
This act of goodwill is a part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors through the Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP).
The initiative, led by the Crestcore Inductees Class, underscores the bank’s commitment to assisting local communities. Under FHHP, Fidelity Bank Plc’s employees identify impactful projects within their communities and pool resources to support them. The bank’s management matches these contributions, thereby extending their reach and impact.
The official handover ceremony took place at the Aiyetoro Primary Health Centre, Wright Street, Adekunle, Yaba. Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand & Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, graciously presented the maternity packages to the community.
Dr. Nwagboh emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “At Fidelity Bank, we acknowledge that ‘health is wealth,’ and the pursuit of one’s dreams and aspirations becomes arduous without good health. Regrettably, financial constraints often hinder women from accessing essential ante-natal care, a significant factor contributing to maternal mortality rates.
“That is why we are present in the Aiyetoro Community today, offering indispensable maternity packages to economically disadvantaged expectant mothers. Our aspiration is for this contribution to motivate more women to attend ante-natal appointments.”
Accepting the donations on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Medical Officer of Health for Yaba LCDA, Dr. S.O. Oredein, conveyed gratitude on behalf of the community. “Fidelity Bank has once again demonstrated its deep concern for the well-being of the populace. By providing these maternity packages, the bank is encouraging more expectant mothers to seek healthcare services, thereby contributing to the reduction of maternal mortality,” elucidated Dr. Oredein.
The provision of maternity packages in Aiyetoro LCDA, Yaba, aligns with Fidelity Bank’s Health/Social Welfare CSR pillar. Other pillars in the bank’s CSR strategy encompass Education, Youth Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability.
One of the beneficiaries, Sekinat Aderoju, expressed her jubilation, stating, “We are sincerely appreciative of Fidelity Bank’s assistance. Receiving these maternity packages will alleviate financial burdens and aid us in preparing for safe deliveries.”
