Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 48 kidnapped victims following a swift military response to a terrorist attack on Magami village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of July 26, 2026, saw a large group of armed terrorists storm the community on about 40 motorcycles, rounding up residents with the intent to abduct them into the bush. Acting on a distress call, troops of Sector 2 were immediately mobilised to the scene.
In a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle upon arrival, forcing the terrorists to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bush.
The prompt intervention of the troops led to the successful rescue of all 48 abducted civilians. However, one civilian was reportedly killed during the attack, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and were evacuated to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for medical treatment.
Following the operation, troops conducted aggressive patrols across the area to prevent further attacks and maintain dominance in the general vicinity.
