The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has declared that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will be defeated in the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15, 2026, urging him to begin preparations to vacate the Government House in Oke-Fia, Osogbo.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, the group’s Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, accused the governor of misleading Muslims in the state and predicted that such actions would cost him re-election.
MURIC alleged that Governor Adeleke’s administration had failed to meet expectations and criticised what it described as attempts to “deceive” the Muslim population regarding religious representation in governance. The group stated that while past administrations had enjoyed Muslim support regardless of religious alignment, transparency and sincerity were key factors that earned such trust.
Referencing the tenure of former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, MURIC noted that despite leading a Christian-Christian ticket, he maintained the confidence of Muslim voters due to what it described as his openness. The group argued that Adeleke’s approach differed, accusing him of misrepresenting his religious identity for political advantage.
The statement also drew a comparison with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket at the federal level, describing it as a “bold and transparent” stance, which it claimed was lacking in Osun State’s current leadership.

MURIC further insisted that the electorate had shifted support to what it called “the real Nurudeen,” suggesting a preference for an alternative candidate ahead of the election. It maintained that the governor’s alleged missteps, including governance issues and handling of local matters, would culminate in his defeat at the polls.
The group concluded by reiterating its call for Governor Adeleke to “pack his dancing kits” from the Government House, asserting that a new administration would soon take over leadership in the state.
