Lagos, Nigeria — The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has charged its newly promoted Corps Commanders and Deputy Corps Commanders to uphold responsibility, loyalty, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS2, Assistant Corps Marshal Matthew Olonisaye, gave the charge on Wednesday during the decoration ceremony of the promoted officers in Lagos.
Olonisaye emphasised that promotion within the corps comes with increased responsibility, particularly in ensuring safety on Nigeria’s highways.
“Your promotion means more responsibilities and ensuring lives are saved on highways,” he said, noting that lapses that may have been overlooked at lower ranks would no longer be tolerated.
He further urged the officers to remain steadfast and loyal to the corps, warning against the misuse of their new positions.
“Your loyalty to the corps should not be shaken. Errors will not be tolerated, and your new positions must not be used to intimidate others,” he added.
Also speaking, the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, described the promotion exercise as a “seal of victory,” commending the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for his leadership and commitment to efficiency.
“This is a total package in the sense that everyone sent for promotion was successful, and this is a thing of joy. To whom much is given, much is expected,” Hamzat said.
In separate goodwill messages, retired FRSC officer Abayomi Olukoju and Ibrahim Gobir of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army urged the officers to be exemplary leaders and remain committed to national service.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Corps Commander Lucas Oguntade expressed gratitude to the FRSC leadership for the opportunity, pledging dedication to duty.

“We appreciate the Corps Marshal and the management for this opportunity. We pray that the spirit of error will not fall on any of us,” he said.
Those promoted to the rank of Corps Commander include Lucas Oguntade, Nimota Okoro, Chinwendu Iwoha, Adeyemi Bashir, Kareem Olawale, and Onyekachi Nnamani, while Adebowale Abayomi and Ayodele Ajayi were elevated to Deputy Corps Commanders.
The RS2 Command of the FRSC covers Lagos and Ogun States.
