The Hon. Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into a recent incident involving the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja.
The investigation is currently underway, and its findings will be made public upon conclusion.
This was disclosed in a statement signed on Sunday by Obadiah N.K. Gana, Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Medical Director of FMC Abuja.
“We have been made aware of a video circulating online that portrays our hospital in a negative light. In response, the hospital management has initiated a thorough internal investigation to establish the facts,” the statement read.
According to the state, an assessments has revealed the following:
The emergency department had a sufficient stock of medical consumables, including latex gloves.
Resuscitation equipment and essential medications were adequately available.
No shortage of patient transfer tools such as trolleys and wheelchairs was observed.
Ongoing interviews with staff and relevant stakeholders are being conducted to provide a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
FMC Abuja emphasized its dedication to transparency and quality healthcare delivery. “We are committed to sharing the full outcome of the investigation with the public. FMC Abuja operates an open-door policy and maintains several feedback channels, including dedicated phone lines, QR codes, and email contact options prominently displayed across the hospital premises.”
The hospital also highlighted its social support initiatives. “We maintain a medical indigent fund to assist financially disadvantaged patients and have successfully treated and reunited many unconscious patients with their families through our social work team.”
