Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified ongoing counter-insurgency operations, recording fresh successes with the rescue of abducted civilians, neutralisation of terrorists, and arrest of suspected collaborators across the theatre.
In a major breakthrough during sustained clearance operations under Operation DESERT SANITY, troops acting on credible intelligence carried out a mission on 14 May 2026 along a suspected terrorist crossing route in the Amuda–Gava corridor of the Mandara Mountains axis. The operation led to the successful rescue of six abducted victims—women and children from Ngoshe community—who had been held captive by Boko Haram/ISWAP عناصر.
The rescued victims were identified as Amina Salihu (52), Aishatu Musa (50), twin sisters Hassana and Hussaina Abubakar (9), Adamu Zakariyya (12), and Usman Zakariyya (10).
They were received by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, and immediately given medical care before being safely reunited with their families through community leaders, including the Bulama of Ngoshe, Mallam Bulama Kunda, and the Chief Imam, Mallam Auwalu Hudu.
The military disclosed that the latest rescue brings the total number of women and children freed since the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community to 60. Brigadier General Abdullahi reassured residents that operations would continue until all abductees are safely returned.
Meanwhile, in separate coordinated offensives across the North East, troops recorded additional gains. In Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, troops neutralised terrorists during aggressive operations, including a raid on Bazamri village where two insurgents were killed. Items recovered from the scene included logistics supplies such as detergent, salt, and a carton of spaghetti, believed to be meant for sustaining insurgents. No casualties were recorded among troops.
In another development, troops stationed at the Mainé checkpoint in Yobe State arrested a suspected Boko Haram collaborator, identified as Ibrahim Alhaji Julo (30). He was intercepted while driving a red Golf vehicle with Bauchi registration number KTG-397AA.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly used his vehicle to transport terrorist elements and facilitate illegal tax collection within affected communities. Items recovered from him include a mobile phone and cash, while he remains in custody for further interrogation.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining relentless operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abductees, and restoring peace and stability in the region.
The Military High Command commended troops for their professionalism, resilience, and continued operational success, urging them to maintain momentum in the fight against insurgency.
