Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised terrorists, rescued three kidnapped victims, and recovered arms and logistics in a series of coordinated operations across Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The Nigerian Army disclosed that the successful operations were part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of banditry and terrorist activities.
On June 12, 2026, troops on a fighting patrol covering Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa in Zurmi LGA engaged terrorists in Yanbuki District. During the firefight, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered rifles, four loaded magazines, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, as well as a woodland camouflage trouser and an inner vest.
As troops advanced to Sabon Garin Daudawa, the fleeing terrorists abandoned their camp ahead of the soldiers’ arrival. The troops subsequently cleared and destroyed the enclave.
In a separate operation along the Shinkafi–Moriki axis, troops on routine patrol ambushed another group of terrorists. One insurgent was neutralised, and items recovered included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, a Baofeng communication radio, two motorcycles, and assorted charms.
The Army also confirmed the rescue of three kidnapped victims during the operations. The victims are currently receiving care, while efforts are underway to reunite them with their families.
