Six kidnapped victims have regained freedom after suspected terrorists abandoned them and fled during separate encounters with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Kaduna and Katsina states.
The victims were rescued on Sept. 17 after troops of the Joint Task Force North West responded to intelligence and distress calls concerning kidnapping incidents in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna and Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina.
In Kaduna, troops of Sector 1 encountered suspected terrorists moving kidnapped victims after receiving intelligence on an abduction incident in the area.
The terrorists reportedly fled in disarray on sighting the troops, leaving behind three victims identified as Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna.
The victims were confirmed to have been abducted from Gidan Gulbi Village on Sept. 11. They were subsequently debriefed and reunited with their families, while troops continued operations in the area.
Similarly, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis in Katsina State.
The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding bushes and abandon three victims.
The rescued victims were identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
Troops also recovered a black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims, who were later escorted and released to continue their journey.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sept. 18.
