Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested an alleged terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State and recovered 73 rustled livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists.
The operations, conducted on October 8, were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, neutralise explosive threats and protect lives and property across the North-West region.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on October 9, 2026.
Danja said troops of Sector 1, acting on credible human intelligence, arrested one Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State over alleged collaboration with terrorists.
According to him, preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect allegedly participated in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was reportedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand.
He added that the suspect allegedly claimed the victim was killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his role in the operation.
The statement said investigations were ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other suspected collaborators.
In a related operation in Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2, working with personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, located and destroyed three improvised explosive devices planted by terrorists along the Magami–Dansadau road.
The operation is expected to improve the safety of residents and road users along the route by reducing the threat posed by explosives planted by armed groups.
Danja further disclosed that troops of Sector 2, acting on intelligence about the movement of terrorists with rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages, swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the armed men.
He said the troops’ firepower forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning the animals, comprising 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep.
According to the statement, the recovered livestock were moved to a secure location by troops working alongside local vigilantes for further action.
