Residents of Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State are set to enjoy improved electricity supply following the delivery of a 300KVA transformer facilitated by Senator Victor Umeh to restore power to parts of the community after about six months without electricity.
The transformer, delivered to Amata, Adazi-Nnukwu, is expected to serve residents of the area and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, whose priest reportedly said the church had spent substantial sums purchasing diesel to power its facilities during the prolonged outage.
The development comes days after residents appealed to the senator for intervention, with the delivery raising hopes of improved electricity supply in the affected areas.
Umeh has also commenced the supply and installation of solar-powered streetlights at the Adazi-Nnukwu Civic Centre and other strategic locations to improve illumination ahead of the Christmas season.
The projects form part of several interventions attributed to the senator in the community, including the construction of a solar-powered borehole at Umuchime Hall, which serves residents around Orofolo village, and a primary healthcare centre at Adazi-Nnukwu Ward II.
Other projects include the completion of a refectory and ICT centre at Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School, Adazi-Nnukwu, and the rehabilitation of the Adazi-Nnukwu–Agulu–Aguluzigbo Road through St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Umeh has also supported infrastructure development at Bubendorff Memorial Grammar School and Loretto Special Science School, as well as the remodelling of Adazi-Nnukwu Town Hall.
In education, the senator’s Victor Umeh Education Foundation (VUMEF) has reportedly produced four graduates from Adazi-Nnukwu, while five students from the community are beneficiaries of his Anambra Central Scholarship Programme.
The senator has also facilitated the employment of five indigenes of Adazi-Nnukwu into pensionable jobs, according to information provided by the community.

Residents have expressed appreciation for the interventions, which they say cover electricity, healthcare, education, road infrastructure, water supply and employment opportunities.
The latest projects are expected to ease the impact of the prolonged power outage in Amata and improve lighting around the civic centre as the community prepares for the yuletide season.
