Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and representative of Abia North Senatorial District, has called on the Inspector General of Police and the Abia State government to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing of two Chinese nationals and a police inspector in Abia State.
The victims were ambushed and killed by gunmen while being escorted to a mining site in Isuikwuato, Abia State.
In a statement issued from his media office on Sunday, Kalu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a deliberate and unprovoked assault on expatriates and law enforcement officers.
“Despite our relentless efforts to combat insecurity, violent crimes persist,” Kalu stated. “I strongly condemn these heinous and unprovoked attacks that claimed the lives of two Chinese expatriates and a police officer, while leaving several others injured near the Huan Cheng Mining Quarry site in Agukwu Amaya, Ndundu community, Isuikwuato Local Government Area.”
He urged the Inspector General of Police, security agencies, and state authorities to take immediate action in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators, while also implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Kalu extended his condolences to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China and the bereaved families, emphasizing the need for enhanced security to safeguard both citizens and expatriates, particularly as Nigeria strives for economic growth and development.
