Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), one of Africa’s fastest-growing oil exploration and production companies, has consistently prioritized the healthcare needs of its employees and host communities across Nigeria.
Also, SEEPCO has provided robust healthcare facilities and emergency support structures at all its work locations, demonstrating a firm commitment to health and wellness.
Beyond its internal initiatives, SEEPCO has actively engaged in community healthcare outreach programs, organizing regular medical camps across various local government areas. These camps offer free consultations, medicines, and on-the-spot basic laboratory tests for ailments such as coughs, malaria, typhoid, high blood pressure, and skin conditions.
As part of its ongoing dedication to healthcare and giving back to the community, SEEPCO employees have now taken a significant step by forming the SEEPCO Blood Donor Club. This new initiative aims to establish a reliable platform to support healthcare providers like the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee (LSBTC) and others during emergencies requiring urgent blood donations.
SEEPCO, through its support for nonprofit organizations such as the V Care for Development Foundation (VCDF), has already been actively involved in blood donation initiatives. VCDF works closely with LSBTC, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and other health organizations to address critical blood shortages, supporting emergency patients, mothers during childbirth, accident victims, and sick children.
Since 2022, VCDF and LSBTC have organized annual blood donation drives, with SEEPCO volunteers playing a key role. To date, these drives have contributed over 850 pints of blood, helping more than 2,000 patients across Lagos State—a testament to VCDF’s commitment to saving lives and fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation.
Dr. B. I. Osikomaiya, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Committee (LSBTC), commended the launch of the SEEPCO Blood Donor Club, describing it as a “very thoughtful initiative.”

“This is a laudable initiative and aligns perfectly with our goal of ensuring a safe, sufficient, and readily available blood supply across Lagos State. The creation of a structured donor club will provide a sustainable and dependable platform for emergency blood mobilization, especially in critical times. We are particularly pleased to see SEEPCO employees volunteering for this noble cause,” she said.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Olayinka Animashaun, Head of the Donor Recruitment Unit at LSBTC, also praised SEEPCO and VCDF’s commitment. She highlighted the positive impact of their efforts on public health and advocated for biannual blood donation drives to further bridge the existing gap in blood availability.
